Sweating For the Wedding: Take Two

June 19, 2015 / no comments

6. Apple Cider Vinegar

If you don’t already know, apple cider vinegar is proven to help you lose weight. This is because the acetic acid suppresses your appetite, increases your metabolism, and reduces water retention! Scientists have also stated that apple cider vinegar interferes with the body’s digestion of starch, which means fewer calories enter the bloodstream.

You can buy it in a capsule form and take it as a vitamin or you can buy it as a liquid and use it in a delicious salad dressing!

7. Substitutes

When preparing meals, try using healthier alternatives that are better for your body and gracious to your waistline. You will be surprised at how it still has the same enjoyable taste and remaining flavour!

8. Get Some Sleep

Are you one of those people that believe weight loss is 70% diet and 30% exercise? Although, this may have some truth to it, what about the amount of sleep you get? Sleep is another crucial factor that needs to be taken into consideration when trying to lose weight. The reason for this is, sleep is known to suppress your appetite and raises your metabolism, while allowing your body to rest and recover. This being said, it is important to live an active health lifestyle. However, with a full eight hours of shuteye you will be able to maximize results further, and finally loose that weight you have been wanting too!

9. Stop Stressing!

No matter where your stress is coming from, whether it be a close call while driving or managing your money for the wedding,  it triggers the release of chemicals, including adrenaline, CRH, and cortisol. This happens because your brain and body are getting prepared to handle the threat. At first, your adrenaline will suppress your appetite, but once it wears off, cortisol, your “stress hormone” will kick in and send a message to your brain it is time to eat and regain energy. However, when your body is constantly in fight or flight mode, it will store the fat from food around your waist for a quick access to energy as it is getting ready to take action. Therefore, this is how we got the term “stress belly,” because your body is not digesting your food properly and instead storing it to use for energy. With that being said, we recommend finding some simple yoga poses to relieve stress and or use breathing techniques that can help you unwind. We also find the app “Calm” really helps with taking a few minutes a day to let go about any wedding worries.

10. Walk & Talk

Instead of catching up with a friend over drinks on a patio, which of course we all love to do! Why not go for a walk and catch up over a hand packed picnic, this way you can still enjoy a great conversation while squeezing in some exercise and not to mention some healthier munchies. Another great idea is to get your girls together for a group activity once a week, such as a game of tennis or a Pilate’s class. This way, you are staying active while still maintaining a social life; plus it is a ton of fun! You can even plan to all cook a healthy dinner together after your activity; trying new healthy recipes and keeping each other on track.

They say your wedding day is suppose to be one of the best days of your life, but why not make each day leading up to equally as enjoyable! It’s time to let go and start having some fun, stop stressing and start sleeping and stop juicing and start eating!

Cheers!

June 15, 2015 / no comments

Radha Subramani is one of RSVP’s favourite makeup and hair specialist! She has built quite the name for herself here in Ottawa, as she has a unique technique that remains different from others. Having been branded the queen of giving a flawless complexion, many brides book well in advance to have their makeup & hair done by her. Radka’s talent always leaves each bride feeling radiant and confident as they are now ready to take on their special day!

Since 2010, Radha’s mission has been to bring out each brides inner beauty to make them realize you can look just as amazing in the mirror as you feel inside. For this reason, Radha works with each bride to understand their needs, whether it be new trends or classic elegance, and incorporate them into the perfect look.

For Radha, her dream took off in 2013, when she brought bridal up-do specialist Jane Tenthorey on board and became a full-service bridal makeup + hair firm. They are now a full service bridal firm, with extensive multi-cultural experience. Their studio specializes in South Asian bridal hair + makeup + styling and are known for bridal applications, engagements, mehndi evenings, other special events and make-up lessons.

Sweating For the Wedding?

June 12, 2015 / no comments

Are you someone who plans on juicing before the big day? If so, you may want to rethink twice before starving yourself to fit in your dress. Many brides are at a loss when it comes to how to lose weight, and think juicing will be a fast and easy way. However, what most brides don’t know is, you can actually gain double the weight once you stop juicing and start eating a regular diet again. This is because your metabolism gets used to not having to break down certain foods therefore causing it to slow down.

However, there is no need to panic! We are here to give some personal tips on how to help you lose weight before the wedding so you can stop juicing and start eating!

1. Eat 5 times a day

Eating throughout the entire day will help you from overeating and help keep your metabolism burning off food all day long.

We personally recommend eating most of your food in the morning. For example, if you eat Breakfast at 7:00 am, then allow yourself a snack at 10:00 am and lunch around 12:00 pm. Therefore, you won’t need as big of portions, which also helps your body burn off more.  We then recommended having a snack at 3:00 pm and dinner at 6:00pm. However, it is important your eating times are planned around your personal schedule, as some start their morning later due to a later work schedule.

2. Infused water

We have all heard how important drinking water is, especially when you are trying to lose weight. However, water sometimes doesn’t satisfy that lingering craving for something sweet. Therefore, why not infuse your water for a fun refreshing taste. There are a number of combinations that have amazing health benefits and can actually help you loose weight! So take advantage of the summer and all the amazing fruits you can find.

Some of our personal favourites: cucumber, lemon & lime | strawberry, lime & mint | grapefruit & orange

3. Say yes to fat… healthy fats that is

Many people have the misconception that all fats are bad, when in fact this is completely untrue. In fact, a lot of the super-foods that help with weight lose are high in fat. This does not mean we are giving you the green light to head to your local McDonalds. The fats we are talking about are found in foods such as avocados, nuts, egg yolks, coconut and olive oil. The difference is, these fats are the good kinds of fats that can help your body lose weight.

For a better insight to why this is, check out: http://www.livestrong.com/article/557726-eat-fat-to-burn-fat/

4. Superfoods

It’s time to head to bulk barn and stock up on these amazing superfoods!

It is quite obvious how they got their name; these foods are packed with nutrients that offer endless benefits to make you feel good inside and out!

de77b57b506286f555bce1b2e9befe3d

super

If you are wondering what makes them so super, it is because these foods are packed with large amounts of antioxidants, polyphenols, vitamins, and minerals. It is also said that these foods may reduce the risk of chronic disease, and prolong life, and people who eat more of them are healthier and thinner than those who don’t.

5. Sweat!

Unfortunately, it is true; in order to shed those stubborn pounds, exercise is a must, especially if you sit at a desk all day. We recommend exercising at least five times a week. For those of you who cannot bear the thought of spending your precious spare time working out, then why not break it up! 10 mins of yoga in the morning to wake up, 20 min walk at lunch, 15 min bike ride after dinner. You will be surprised how much more energy you will have, not to mention how good it will make you feel!

We hope you enjoy our first five tips; now you can get back on track to feeling amazing inside and out!

Stay tuned for our next five tips coming out next Friday!

Cheers!

The Best Ever Bridal Shower

June 10, 2015 / no comments

What is a bridal shower without the perfect theme to begin the fun!? Not only does it look great, but it sparks a creative inspiration for whatever activities you are looking to have. For instance, having a theme, gives guidance towards which games to play, where it should be held, what food should be served and how you and your guests should dress! In addition, having a theme will allow you to design your invitations accordingly; sending your guests their first hint as to what kind of day they can expect to have. Not only does holding a themed bridal shower help guide your itinerary for the day, it also makes planning a lot more fun!

Below is a list of equally charming bridal shower themes you could imitate when it comes time to hosting yours.

Monday Morning Spotlight: Taylor Roades Photography

June 8, 2015 / no comments

Today’s spotlight shines on a young photographer from Victoria, BC, Taylor Roades. Although, she is fairly new to the business, her photos show nothing but pure talent. Taylor has a unique style and an eye to capture a moment that is so pure; she sees what most of us simply miss.

Over the past four years, photography has taken Taylor across the world.  Her adventures entail traveling through the Canadian Rockie Mountains all the way to the Scottish Highlands- shutter clicking every step of the way. Aside from Taylor’s very well documented life, she has also photographed weddings across Canada, England and the Bahamas!

There is no doubt, Taylor has busy summer ahead full with weddings, which is why RSVP Events was thrilled to have come across such an amazing young artist!  Keep your eyes open this 2015; I am sure we will be seeing Taylor Roades capture many important occasions this year.

Although, we are in love with all Taylor Roades’ photos, below are some of our favourites.

The “Shabby Chic” Wedding

June 1, 2015 / no comments

This year, more than ever, weddings have been following a new style known as “Shabby Chic”. The fun theme incorporates a distressed décor while still keeping the glamour of a fairytale wedding. The “Shabby” part of the wedding often includes aged items, such as old glasses and dish wear, wore out furniture and miss matched items. However, in order to tie in the “Chic,” feminine and romantic pieces such as flowers and crystals are then added to complete this trendy look.

How did it start?

Many brides may think their wedding is following a new generational trend; however, this popular décor style got its name back in the 1980’s in Great Britain when it was mentioned for the first time in “The World of Interiors” magazine.

It is said that this style of décor was born in Britain, as they are known for their love for historical pieces. In light of this, many of the old homes in Britain were owned by the upper class and were furnished with vintage furniture. It was for this reason, distressed furniture received the image of being stylish and started the trend all together. Now, we see it everywhere from home interiors, to restaurants to now weddings! People are even purposely buying new pieces and making them look old, in order to achieve the trendy “shabby chic” look.

Here is some “Shabby Chic” inspiration for your wedding…
